How to Sell Online Courses | Make Money Online | Kajabi

Wondering how to sell online courses and make money online?

Let me guess, you've put your heart and soul into the creation process, and now that you're ready to sell your online course you're coming up against confusion and resistance.

No worries, coach.  I gotchu!

Although it seems simple enough to sell online courses, there are systems to follow, and a level of organization necessary to maximize your results.

So, if this is where you’re at in business right now, or you plan to be here soon, be sure to have these 3 systems in place to begin selling your online course fast!

System #1: Packaging

Proper packaging can make or break someone buying from you, as well as, achieving the results you’re promising. Your packaging involves 2 key aspects.

  1. The first aspect is your content delivery system. This is where you house the materials included in each of your modules.

Materials may include module:

--> videos

--> audios

--> documents/workbooks/implementation guides

--> infographics

--> descriptions

--> bonus materials

...anything else you plan to use to support your students in getting results.  Overall, you want to think SIMPLICITY.

Now, there are a lot of content delivery systems out there, however the one I use is Kajabi. If you want to take a lookie-loo into the backend of my membership site that houses ALL of my online courses click the video above and begin at 1:43!

2. The second aspect of packaging is how you plan to use your online course.  For example, you could sell it as a stand alone DIY course, or you can use it as part of a membership site, or you can add it to a group coaching program.

Once you determine HOW you’d like to sell and position your online course, then we move on to...

System #2: Pricing

Your pricing is going to vary depending on how you package your online course. Regardless of how you sell your course, your pricing is going to be based off 2 key factors:

1. The 1st key factor is value.  To determine the value of your course, you’re going to list out what is included.  Things like:

---> The result your students can expect by the end

---> The strategies, tools, and trade secrets you’re giving them

---> Implementation support (templates, checklists, scripts, and workbooks)

---> Coaching (reflective questions, unique content, and research)

---> Bonuses

---> Resources (articles, books, podcasts, youtube videos, blogs)

---> Community

---> YOU

All of this is value that’s going to be considered when pricing your online program.

2. The 2nd factor to consider in your pricing is your “next step”.  As a coach, you’re going to have free content upgrades, low tiered price points, mid tier price points, as well as high and premium price points for your products, programs and services.

When launching your online course it’s important to determine your funnel.  For example, if students bought your online course for $397 (mid tier price point) you’re going to want to offer support at the next, high tiered level which may be a group coaching program, a VIP Day, or 1:1 coaching.

Your job is to determine your funnel and “next step” for your online course, as well as each of your products, programs and services in order to gently guide future students through your support system and offer different levels of value. Then you can move onto...

System #3: Marketing

This system is the most fun in my opinion because it involves developing an airtight plan to get your message out to the world!

Now, be aware that marketing typically takes the most split testing and trial and error. How you start most likely WON’T be how you finish.

When marketing your online course there are a few things to consider.

  • The first thing to consider is your email list.  If you don’t have a list it’s something that you'll want to make a top priority. It's a wildly important aspect to your launch because marketing to your list is the warmest launch. These folks already know, like and trust you, and have most likely been given freebies along the way!

If you don’t have an email list, don’t panic!  While you’re in the process of building one you can run targeted ads! To do this, you’ll want to determine the social media platform where your ideal client hangs out and create a compelling message with images or videos that make them want to click!

  • The third thing to consider is inviting affiliate partners to support you in your marketing efforts.  These are influencers who either have large communities and/or large email lists of your ideal clients, and they’re willing to market your online course for a commission.  This is a great way to increase your list and your sales!

Lastly, while taking some or all of these actions during your online course launch, be sure to stay relevant by posting on social media, and consistently sharing your blog, vlog, or podcast to continue giving value for free!

Congrats coach! Now you know the 3 systems you need to focus on to have a profitable online course launch.

Like I promised, I wanted to share a resource I created called Online Course Simplified.  This is going to walk you through not only mapping out and building the curriculum for your Online Course from scratch, but also the process you need to SELL it ...whether that’s by having an evergreen course, or open/close cart dates, or even selling it as part of a group coaching program!

So, go ahead and click the picture above to learn more about that now.

Until next time!

Keep building your empire,

KellyAnne xoxo
